About

About

A small, independent site that reads Wasatch Front air and pollen in plain words, and points you to the agencies that measure it.

Who makes this

HiveAir Utah is one calm place for what the air is doing, what the burn rules are, and what is blooming. One person writes and keeps it. No agency or company is behind it.

It is a sister to Prepare Utah and FaultLine Utah. Prepare Utah is the household plan. FaultLine Utah is the earthquake page. This one is the air page. A hive shares one air; so does a valley.

The readings and alerts come unchanged from Utah DAQ, EPA AirNow and the National Weather Service. The guides are written from public sources; each links to them and shows the date it was last checked. No one here is a doctor, an air-quality scientist or a spokesperson for any agency. The Hive status line on the home page is a hand-typed read of public sources, not an alert.

Where the numbers come from

Every hour, a scheduled job on GitHub collects three public feeds and saves them as one small file on this site. The home page reads that file. HiveAir does not change the values, and it uses EPA’s official AQI colors.

Privacy

HiveAir Utah has no accounts, no analytics, no cookies, and no ads. It never asks for your location. The county cards are in a file on this site, so your browser loads pages, styles, and data only from HiveAir, not from the agencies or anyone else.

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub receives your IP address and browser details when you load a page, and GitHub’s privacy statement applies. When you follow a link to an agency or another site, that site’s policy applies.

If that ever changes, this section changes first, in plain language.
